The Gd2O3:Eu3+ nanoparticles were synthesized by a chemical method with urea as a reactant to control the
ratio of different Eu3+ activation centers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 mol% to find the optimal concentration for
the best fluorescence. The characteristics and luminescent properties of the Gd2O3:Eu3+ material were
analyzed through FESEM, XRD, and fluorescence measurements. The obtained material had a diameter of
140-220nm, and the fluorescence emitted red light with the characteristic shifts from 5D0 to 7FJ (J= 0–6), the
shift from 5D0 to 7F2 was the strongest emission peak corresponding to the wavelength of 611nm. The
analysis of area fraction based on the fluorescence spectrum of the material showed that the luminescence
intensity of Gd2O3:8%Eu3+ was 36 times higher than that of Gd2O3:2%Eu3+. The CIE color coordinates
showed that Gd2O3:8%Eu3+ was most suitable for lighting and fluorescence applications with coordinates x
= 0,6473; y = 0,3378.
