INVESTIGATION ON THE PROCESS OF SYNTHESIS ORGANOCLAYS FROM BENTONITE (THANH HOA) AND TETRADECYLTRIMETHYL AMMONIUM BROMIDE

Abstract

    Synthesize organoclay by wet method and study the influence of reactive conditions in thepreparation of organoclay from bentonite (Thanh Hoa) and tetradecyltrimetyl ammoniumbromide (TĐTM) on the distance of the organoclay layers (d001) and the level of intrusionTĐTM into bentonite has been studied. By X-ray diffraction method, the direct methodcalcined sample was determined suitable conditions for preparing organoclays from bentonite(Thanh Hoa) and TĐTM were: reaction temperature of 500C, the volume ratioTĐTM/bentonite 0.5, pH = 9.0 solution, reaction time 4 h, the product was dried for 48 hoursat 80oC.
