Abstract

In this paper, AgI/BiVO4 composites were fabricated by solid-phase synthesis method. The as-prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-Vis-DRS) and Scanning electron microscope (SEM). The photocatalytic properties of obtained materials were investigated by the degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TC) under
visible light irradiation. The degradation conversation of TC had gotten to about 75,58% in AgI/BiVO4 mass ratio of 20% (ABV-2) after reaction 2 hours. AgI/BiVO4 composites were more active than AgI and BiVO4, the improved photocatalytic activity of AgI/BiVO4 can be attributed to the efficient separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. A possible photocatalytic mechanism is proposed.
