Nutritional status of students at two high school in Hanoi in 2015
Abstract
The study was conducted among 620 students in two high School in Hanoi, one from an urban area and one from a suburban area with aiming to “determine the nutritional status of high school students in 2015”. The study design was cross-sectional. The study results showed that the average weight of students was 52.2 ± 9.7 kg and average height was 160.7 ± 7.9cm, there was significant
difference between those in urban and suburban. The rate of malnutrition was 5.2%, the number in suburban area was higher than urban area by 2 times. Meanwhile, the percentage of overweight- obesity were 7.8%, the percentage overweight of students in urban area was higher (8.9%) than suburban, while the percentage in the suburban only was 3.6%. The percentage overweight of male students was higher than female students, and this difference was statistically significant p <0.05. Recommendation: Need to do intervention to suit each region: reducing overweight- obesity rates tends to increase in the urban area and contining the intervention reduced malnutrition rates in students in the suburban.
