Academic library management in Vietnam: institutional theory model

Abstract

     The article develops a theory based on definitions of isomorphic constitution and strategic reactions in order to explain changes in macro activities of libraries under the influences of political, cultural and social elements as well as the isomorphic forced pressure, simulations and criteria. Analyzing recent changes in Vietnamese academic libraries management, focusing on general management issues as well as specific quality control and maintenance based on the suggested theoretical model and available data. The application of this theoretical model into library activities will assist librarians and researchers in analyzing, reviewing and understanding changes in library activities, therefore building suitable development plans and strategies.
