Survey on digital competence of lecturers in social sciences and humanities

Abstract

    Digital competencies are understood as the appropriate abilities that support individuals to live, study and work in a digital society. The aim of this study is to investigate the digital competencies of lecturers in the field of social sciences and humanities in the context of increasing requirements in engaging with and managing digital scholarly activities. Quantitative research method was applied to collect data from 135 participants. The results show that lecturers had the best digital competencies in terms of ICT proficiency and the effectiveness of using ICT applications in their study and research activities, and the lowest among the competence groups of data management, creativity, and participation in the digital environment. The research results provide the foundation for conducting further studies to examine the relationship between digital competencies and digital humanities and assist in building supporting programs to improve digital competencies for lecturers in the fields.
