Abstract
In this study, explants containing one Opuntia ficus-indica apical meristem shoot were cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) supplemented with 6-Benzylaminopurine (BA) 5mg/l medium. The maximum number of shoots per explant were obtained from the main face of the tops of the branches. Best multiplication rates were gained on MS medium supplemented with BA 5mg/l and 1-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) 0.5mg/l. Use of indol butyric acid (IBA) 0.5mg/l gave the highest root inducing. The correlation of the material, root and shoot formation was discussed.
