Applying Facebook Messenger’s chatbot technology to student support services in Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s department of Pharmacy

Abstract

    Research background and aims: This study aims at building a system to support students in their study by answering students' questions quickly at any time and in any place. Instead of going to university at working hours, students can get immediate feedback via the Facebook fanpage of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Nguyen Tat Thanh University. In addition, the system can send messages to and inform all the students of important notices from the Faculty of Pharmacy as well as of the University... Research method: Firstly, a Fanpage for the Faculty of Pharmacy was created, and the Messenger function was added. Then, the goals and estimation for Bot were planned. Next, the question set and corresponding answers were developed before being submitted to the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Science and Technology for approval. After the Bot was built and run, feedback from students was collected to add more questions.

    Results: An automatic answering system has successfully been built to support students of the Faculty of Pharmacy in their study at university.
