BUDDHIST RESOURCES IN VIETNAM’S TOURISM DEVELOPMENT TODAY
Abstract
Vietnam is a multi-religious country, in which the number of disciples andenthusiasts of Buddhism accounts for the largest. Since its arrival to Vietnam till now, Buddhism has made great contributions in many fields, including culture, education, health, humanitarianism and economic-social aspects. From the aforementionned fact, in recent years, Vietnamese authorities have addressed the need to promote the positive aspects of Buddhism, considering Buddhism and other religions as resources for the development and construction of their country. To be more specific, the article focuses on researching Buddhism as a resource in the development of Vietnam's tourism today. The specific research contents are the concept of religious resources, the features of the relationship between Buddhist resources and Vietnam's tourism development, along with some cautions when exploiting this resource for tourism-based activities.
