TYPES OF EVENTS IN VIETNAMESE

Abstract

According to functional grammar, each sentence performs function of cognitive reflections, human experience about the world through a semantic - grammatical structure reflecting the situation. The situations (objects, things, phenomena) of reality are very diverse. When using language to express situations, language users must organize the context suitable with the situations, in their view of the situations and their purposes. In the objective world, each object, thing and phenomenon has its own characteristic (attribute), distinguished from other objects, things and phenomena. Characteristics of situation are associated with the structure of the expression meaning. Not to mention the world of abstract relations, the characteristic reflection structure of the situation is the predicate – object structure.
