VIETNAM COMMUNIST PARTY’S CREATIVE APPLICATION OF THE PEOPLE’S WAR IN THE WAR AGAINST FRENCH COLONISTS (1945-1954)

Abstract

The strategy of people's war to protect the Fatherland is considered the inheritance of our ancestors' traditional military ideology and art in the history of national construction and defense. That tradition was highly promoted in the resistance war against the French colonial invasion (1945-1954). The Party's creativity was shown in the motto of the resistance: people’s war, all people, all aspects, long-term war, self-reliance. That strategy was also reflected in the determination of the resistance force, the method of conducting the resistance war, against the French colonialist's plot of quick defeat and quick conquer. That is the most important reason for a glorious national victory, culminating in the campaign Dien Bien Phu "famous in five continents shocks the earth".
