Studying and evaluating the value of the Thiên Long Uyển relic and proposing plans for conservation and promotion of its value
Abstract
The Bạch Đằng victory demonstrated the spirit, the labor power and military art of the Trần dynasty, which is a great and valuable asset of military art that needs to be studied, clarified, and propagated. However, the understanding of the battle of Bach Dang still has many "blur points" that need to be further studied and clarified such as: How was the battlefield arranged? What was the scope of the battlefield? How was the cooperation between forces and agencies? Where was the front headquarters? What was the role of the army wing led by Trần Hưng Đạo and the army wing commanded by two Tran kings? This paper presents results of the project "Studying and evaluating the position and value of the Thiên Long Uyển relic and the Yên Đức area in the overall relic of the Bạch Đằng victory in 1288 and proposing plans for preservation, embellishment, and connection of relics". The results of this study have clarified the scope of the battlefield and also indicated that Thiên Long Uyển was the headquarters of the two Trần kings in the Bạch Đằng battle in 1288. The results provided a scientific basis for the authorities to build a dossier to request the recognition of Thiên Long Uyển as a special national-level relic, and at the same time propose to preserve and promote the value of the relic in connection with other Bạch Đằng relics and scenic sites in Quảng Ninh, Hải Phòng and Hải Dương Provinces.
