Abstract

The victory of the 1975 General Offensive and Uprising completely liberated the Southern Vietnam, reunited the country, ended the heroic resistance war against the US to save the country of the Vietnamese nation. The victory has that historical significance opened an important turning point that brought Vietnam to a new era - an era of independence and unity and the whole country moved to socialism. This article aims to deeply research and analyze to clarify one of the extremely important contents at a historical turning point of this war, that is, seizing the strategic opportunity, the Politburo, hold a meeting from December 18, 1974 to January 8, 1975, decided to completely liberate the South in the Spring of 1975, earlier than the previously planned period 1975-1976, to step up military, political and diplomatic struggles to rapidly and comprehensively change the balance of forces on the battlefield, conduct a general offensive, a general uprising, destroy and disintegrate the puppet army, overthrow the puppet government from the central to local levels, take power into the hands of the people, and completely liberate Southern Vietnam.
