The Uprisings in Southern Central Vietnam (1959-1960): A Reappraisal
Abstract
The southern part of Central Vietnam lies between Dac Lac - Binh - Phu - and the eastern part of Southern Vietnam. In the early phase of the Vietnam War, this area was under the governance of the Inter-Province No. 3. consisting of the provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Vien and Upper Dong Nai. This article discusses further the uprisings in this area in 1959 and 1960. These uprisings helped confirming the strategy of utilizing military campaigns to assist the political movements in order to gain territorial control and government in this area.
