Abstract

The rhizome essential oil of Curcuma cochinchinensis Gagnep is obtained by hydrodistillation. The chemical composition of chromolaena odorata essential oil is determined by gas chromatography coupled mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method, with the main constituents including β-pinene (12.93%), α-terpinol (11.08%), curcumol (14.76%), germacrone (14,03%), neocurdione (13.54%). The results of bioactivity test showed that the rhizome essential oil of Curcuma cochinchinensis Gagnep. had antibacterial activity against three microbial strains and inhibited one fungus strain. In addition, the antioxidant activity of the rhizome essential oil was higher than vitamin C with IC50 values of 14,06 and 16,12 µg/mL, respectively.
