ARCHITECTURAL ARTIFACTS OF OC EO – PHU NAM CULTURE
Abstract
The article focuses on analyzing architectural artifacts found in the Mekong Delta region of Oc Eo Phu Nam culture from 1st 7th centuries. The burial relics, religious relics were discovered during the excavation process from 1944 to present. In particular, the system of door sills, columns and materials used in construction: tile, wood, stone were commonly found in most religious architectures and tombs. More notably, the article analyzes decorative elements on the elaborately carved door sill and column system, showing that cultural and artistic elements influenced and interfered with other countries in the region, in which the indigenous element is shown very typically by the sculptors. That shows that the organization of life, construction of residential, religious works, ... of the people of Phu Nam achieved very high progress.
