Abstract

Compound words are an important method of word formation, helping to produce a large number of words to add to the Vietnamese vocabulary. Compound words can be considered as the lexical array that most clearly shows the contribution of Vietnamese phonetic form in expressing the writer’s thoughts and feelings when using the language. The effect of the word lie is to describe and emphasize people’s emotions and moods. For objects and phenomena, words are used to express beauty, states, emotions, and changes in the movement position of things and phenomena. In this article, applying the theory of reduplication, we focus on a comprehensive and systematic study of the characteristics of reduplication in the short story “The Chau river pier” by Suong Nguyet Minh. Also, we clarify the characteristics of reduplication in his prose and the contributions of Suong Nguyet Minh’s artistic language to contemporary Vietnamese prose, thereby contributing to the improvement of the quality of teaching Literature according to the 2018 General Education Program.
