Abstract
Abstract: This study, based on an evaluation of
Canada’s long-term athlete development (LTAD)
experience in high-performance sports (illustrated
by swimming and rowing), reveals that Canada’s
athlete training system ensures continuity across
training pathways and phases; emphasizes youth
development and the pipeline of athletes; addresses
athletes’ psychological and nutritional needs, as
well as the development of physical qualities; and
fosters close coordination between organizations,
training centers, and young athletes’ families in
recruitment and training orientation. This will
serve as an important basis for us to establish the
theoretical and practical foundations for building a
high-performance sports training model in Vietnam.
