Abstract

The study measured bone age
and predicted height for 292 pubertal
children, including 139 males and 153
females, using the non-dominant hand X-ray
technique. Bone age analysis was based on
the Greulich-Pyle Atlas of hand X-rays [1]
and the eight stages of the Tanner-Whitehouse
skeletal maturity method [2]. Height
prediction was done using the formula
developed by Vicente Gilsanz and Osman
Ratib [3]. The research results indicated that
normal bone age growth occurred when the
bone age minus birth year age difference was
within the range of -1.3 to 1.4 years. Growth
was considered too slow when this difference
was ≤ -2.6 years and too fast when it was ≥
2.8 years. The predicted average adult height
for males was 169.7 cm, and for females, it
was 155.8 cm.
