Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has impacted every aspect of life globally, changing the way we work, learn, and research. Over the past two years, there has been a significant amount of research focusing on the application of AI in the field of education. In studies on the application of AI, many scholars have discussed the use of AI in higher education (HE). This article aims to explore the significance of AI application activities in higher education through the lens of Activity Theory. Using Activity Theory to study and interpret the significance of AI application activities in higher education, the author asserts that AI is a useful tool that students and educators should use to achieve educational goals such as training high-quality graduates who are ready to work in the digital age. However, it should be noted that although AI has superior advantages over humans to a certain extent, AI only plays a supporting role and cannot replace educators in the process of educating and training students
