ECO-LABELS FOR TOUR OPERATORS IN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN VIETNAM: CURRENT SITUATION AND SOLUTIONS
Abstract
With the current global demand for sustainable tourism development, eco-labels have become an essential tool in promoting the tourism industry to achieve sustainability goals and minimize the negative environmental impacts of tourism activities. This paper focuses on studying the current state of eco-label application among tour operators in Vietnam and proposes solutions to enhance the effectiveness of using eco-labels. The research results show that although there is no national eco-label for tour operators in Vietnam, some pioneering tour operators have participated in and obtained international eco-labels. However, there are still many limitations in the applying of eco-labels in the Vietnam tourism industry, such as the low number of tour operators with eco-labels, a lack of awareness and understanding of eco-labels among tour operators, and high implementation costs
