STUDY ON EXTRACTION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF EXTRACTS OF FALSE DAISY (Eclipta prostrata L.) GROWN IN LONG AN PROVINCE
Abstract
The study aimed to optimize the conditions for obtaining phenolic and saponin-rich extracts from false daisy (Eclipta prostrata L.) as well as the antioxidant activity of the extracts. Total polyphenol content was determined by Folin-Ciocalteu method, saponin content was determined by molecular absorption spectrometry and antioxidant activity was evaluated through DPPH free radical scavenging method. 1,1-Diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl). The factors affecting the content of polyphenols and saponins in the extract such as solvent ratio, extraction time, and sample/solvent weight ratio were investigated. Research results show that the ethanol solvent ratio is 70%; extraction time 60 minutes; The sample weight/solvent ratio 1/15 is the most optimal condition for obtaining extracts rich in phenolics and saponins. The IC50 antioxidant activity of the extract is 123.51 µg/mg
