Literacy eradication approach for community development: pilot study in Dien Bien

Abstract

In recent years, the Party and State have issued many policies to literacy and prevent re-illiteracy for the majority of ethnic minorities and those living in areas with difficult economic conditions, no conditions for studying. Implementing adult literacy involves many participating forces such as teachers from primary and secondary schools in the area, retired teachers, volunteers, border guards, youth unions, etc. However, teaching literacy to adults, who are mainly production workers, has difficulties and requires appropriate teaching methods. This article introduces an effective method of teaching literacy, used in many countries around the world and applied in a pilot in Vietnam, which is the method of Literacy - community development (reflect) grouped Research is being piloted in Muong Ang, Dien Bien province to teach economic development topics associated with literacy. The achieved results need to be further researched, evaluated and replicated nationwide to contribute to improving the effectiveness of literacy and preventing re-illiteracy for adults.
