Abstract

In solution essays, students are required to propose remedies to problems. However, a prevalent issue in many students’ essays is the lack of clarity when they fail to explain how a piece of advice effectively addresses the given problem. This deficiency in explanation not only hinders the coherence of their essays but also affects their overall task fulfillment negatively. This article investigates the potential of purpose structures in enhancing task fulfillment. By incorporating purpose structures into solution essays, students can articulate clear objectives and desired outcomes, establishing a coherent link between advice and its intended purpose. This helps to enhance the clarity and relevance of their solutions, ultimately strengthening their writing and maximizing task fulfillment in their solution essays.
