University autonomy is an inevitable trend today, although this process takes place at different speeds and levels between countries, territories or at each university. University autonomy is no longer an idea or a theoretical model but has become a reality that has been and will continue to change, creating a vivid and diverse picture of change that both reflects the current situation and, at the same time, shaping future trends in higher education reform. This article will synthesize and analyze different approaches to university autonomy, and the impact of the au-tonomy process on the quality of higher education through evaluating practical re-search results in some countries.
