Effect of calcination temperature on properties of Oyster shell and Clam shell

Abstract

This paper presents the results of investigation to effect of calcination temperature on properites of Oyster and Clam shell. The main components of Oyster shells and Clam shells are CaCO, and organic matter binded to make CaCO, framework [2,3]. Organic matter and decomposed CaCO, of Oyster shells and clam shells burnt and decomposed by high temperatures. The research results in this paper show that at 800°C, the shells of oysters and clams are completely decomposed by CaCO, and Organic matter starts to burn at 300°C.
