Abstract

ABSTRACT
Buddhist architecture in the South has been formed and developed for nearly 400 years. The pagoda is a symbol of Buddhism, a religion that has a profound influence in our country. Through the historical development process, many works have no longer kept their original status, but the new renovation also contributes to create value for the building and Hoi Phuoc Pagoda is one of such works. This paper focuses on identifying features and values in the current architecture of Hoi Phuoc Pagoda. Based on the results of surveying and learning the architectural history of Nam Bo pagoda, each architectural item is analyzed the characteristics of the general planning and overall layout, spatial layout, building materials and decoration. Since then, the values in architecture are identified as the basis for the development orientation and future recognition of the building’s value.
