Settlemant strain rate of satuarated clay due to consolidation and creep according to consolidation tests
Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Based on one and two direction drained consolidation testing results, settlement strain rate of actual measurement and predicted from secondary consolidation coefficient is calculated and analyzed. Settlement strain rate of soft clay depends on seepage length while creep strain rate depends on thickness of soil layer. Besides, settlement strain rate in range of compression pressures < 100 kN/m2 tends smaller in comparison with bigger compression pressures. In range of compression pressures < 400 kN/m2, the law of settlement by time of stiff - hard clay obeys the law of secondary consolidation (creep) and settlement strain rate tends bigger in comparison with bigger compression pressures.
Key words: Consolidation testing; settlement strain rate; secondary consolidation coefficient; settlement by time.
