The effects of outrigger on dynamic responses of multi-storey building structures to ground acceleration of earthquakes

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to study the influence of outtrigger in multi-storey building structures on dynamic responses of structures under ground acceleration of earthquakes. The selected structure from the multi-storey building with 30, 35 and 40 floors with outtrigger based on vertical walls is modeled by finite element method. The dynamic problems of the multi-storey building structures to ground acceleration is analyzed in time domain solved with the support of SAP2000 software. The descriptive parameters of the dynamic response of system include the values of peak displacement, bending moment, and shear force in the column to be derived. The numerical results show that the outtrigger has a significant effect on the dynamic responses of the this structures.
