Abstract

The tropical climate and prolonged hot weather are some of the challenges for the development of pedestrian streets in Hanoi. Along with incomplete public transport, climate conditions have created a fear of walking, making Hanoi's pedestrian streets, which were born late, even more difficult to develop. Landscape design of Hanoi’s pedestrian street, in addition to creating an identity, beautiful and safe walking space also needs to research solutions to overcome and mitigate climate limitations to create and exploit streets more efficiently.

The article analyzes the adverse effects of Hanoi's climate on walking activities and introduces some solutions to landscape design of pedestrian streets to both improve the microclimate and increase the attractiveness and suitability with the specific conditions of the city.
