The potential of developing green building in Vietnam

Abstract

In the context of climate change, energy crisis... there's been a trend in Green building in developed countries is considered an ideal model for developing countries. It is clear that Green building has been interested in the topic of special attention nowadays in Viet Nam. Together with the growth of urban areas and Science Technology Development, Green building can be applied to many different types of works (civil works, industrial buildings, technical infrastructure works...). According to the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) defines, a green building is a building that achieves high efficiency in using energy and materials, minimizing adverse impacts on the environment; At the same time, it is designed to minimize the negative impacts of the built environment on human health and the natural environment through:

• Use energy, water and other resources efficiently;
  
• Protecting users health and improving labor productivity;
  
• Minimize waste materials, pollution and environmental damage.
  

Green building has also proven to be effective in many aspects: Environmental efficiency, approving social benefits and obvious economic benefits. The article presents some ideas about the
potential of developing Green building in Vietnam.
