Land use planning strategy towards carbon neutrality, a case of Bac Phuoc Thang, ward 2, Vung Tau city, Ba Ria Vung Tau province
Abstract
The 2050 goals of countries worldwide to address climate change are to keep global temperature rise below 2oC, reduce emissions, neutralize carbon, and provide financial and technological support. Among them, carbon neutrality is an important goal that contributes to promoting the effectiveness of the remaining goals. Vietnam's efforts are demonstrated through developing strategies for the goals in the 2022-2030 period and have been deployed as transfer tasks to related fields. The authors conducted this study to contribute in part to the task of "Building a carbon-neutral urban model. Piloting application in some urban areas". The study includes
six (6) parts: (1) Goals and strategies of the Urban Construction sector in the context of Vietnam in particular and the world in general towards sustainable development, and carbon neutrality in the 2022-2030 period; (2) Potential of applying carbon neutral urban planning in Vietnam in locations with low urbanization and
sensitivity to climate change; (3) Methodology and research methods; (4) Overview of Bac Phuoc Thang, Ward 2, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province; (5) Proposed land use planning strategy towards carbon neutrality in Bac Phuoc Thang; (6) Conclusion.
