EVALUATION OF BIOACTIVE COMPOSITION FOR THREE STRAINS OF SPIRULINA PLATENSIS ST, TL, BM GROWN UNDER AQUEOUS CONDITION USING SOT MEDIUM
Abstract
The study evaluated chlorophyll, carotenoid, carbohydrate and lipid content from 3 strains of Spirulina platensis ST, TL and BM grown under aqueous conditions using SOT medium The results showed that the TL strain had a higher carbohydrate, carotenoid, chlorophyll and lipid composition than the two ST and BM strains, specifically as follows:
The carbohydrate content of the 3 strains TL, ST, BM was 5.25, 4.67 and 2.98mg/g respectively; the carotenoid content of 3 strains TL, ST, BM was 2.86; 2.76 and 2.34mg/g; the lipid content of 3 strains TL, ST, BM was 3.42; 1.51 and 2.98mg/g and the chlorophyll content of 3 strains TL, ST, BM was 13.9; 12.11 and 11.12mg/g respectively.
