AN ANALYSIS OF ERRORS IN USING THE MODAL PARTICLE “吧,呢,吗” MADE BY STUDENTS AT THE SCHOOL OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES – THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY AND TEACHING RECOMMENDATIONS
Abstract
In the Chinese word system, modal words are one of the important methods used to express grammatical relationships. This type of word only has a functional meaning without a specific lexical meaning, so it is easy for Chinese learners to use it incorrectly. The modal particle is an important word and has a high frequency in the vanity word. Learners often use it wrong, especially the 3 modal particles "吧, 呢, 吗" show a relatively rich intonation and appear in flexible sentences. By means of based on the research of previous authors about these 3 modal particles and a survey among 140 Chinese-major freshmen at the School of Foreign Language, this article summarized the mistakes that students often meet in using the 3 modal particles "吧, 呢, 吗", find out the causes and make some recommendations for the process of teaching and learning of the modal particle.
