DEVELOPING A FRAMEWORK FOR ASSESSING PROBLEM-SOLVING CAPACITY THROUGH STEM ACTIVITIES IN SCIENCE 4 FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTS
Abstract
In the General Education program issued in 2018, problem-solving capacity is one of the capacities that plays a vital role in the student's development process. STEM education guides students to identify and to solve problems based on scientific and mathematical understanding, to propose new ideas, and to implement them with feasible technical elements. Based on a review of documents from previous studies, this study presents the theoretical basis for the problem-solving capacity framework according to the 2018 General Education program, STEM education, and proposes problem-solving capacity framework problems in Science 4 according to STEM education orientation. The competency framework is essential in providing teachers with reference, determining the goals of teaching activities, and assessing students' problem-solving abilities on STEM topics in Science 4.
