Study on some epidemiological characteristics of Parvovirus infection in dogs at Veterinary Clinic, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry
Abstract
The result of testing 946 dogs at the Veterinary Clinic, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry showed that there were 318 cases infected with Parvovirus, accounting for 33.62% with the typical symptoms, such as: vomiting, tiredness, loss of appetite and bloody diarrhea. There were 127 dogs out of 138 disease dogs died after examination and treatment, accounting for 39.94%. The rate of the exotic dog breeds infecting with parvo disease was the highest (39.90%), the infection rate of the indigenous dog breeds was the lowest (17.19%). The dogs at 2-6 months old were infected with the highest rate (48.95%); the dogs at over 12 months old were infected with the lowest rate (4.96%). The parvo disease infection rate was not different between the male and female dogs. The parvo disease infection rate of the un-vaccinated dogs was higher than that of the vaccinated dogs.
