Abstract

The studied result on 142 sows after parturition from first to seventh days showed that, there were 68 cases of metritis (accounting for 47.89%). The factors, such as: sow body condition, litter size, newborn piglet weight, stillbirth and obstetric intervention were related to metritis in the sows. The result of isolating bacterial species from vaginal discharge showed that Streptococcus spp. accounted for 72.06%, followed by Staphylococcus spp. (69.12%), E. coli (58.82%) and Klebsiella spp. (13.24%). Antibiogram experiment results showed that bacteria were sensitive with oxytetracycline (86.67%), amoxicillin/clavulanic acid (82.22%) and ceftriazone (71.11%). Bacteria had high resistance to ampicillin (88.89%), enrofloxacin (62.22%), tilmicosin and neomycin (both 57.78%). The treatment
of metritis in sows obtained high efficacy based on the antibiogram experiment results.
