Situation of Avian influenza in Thai Binh province in period 2010-2015 and control result
Abstract
The objective of this study aimed at determining some epidemiological characteristics of bird flu and efficacy of domestically produced bird flu vaccine (avian influenza vaccine, namely Navet-Vifluvac) used in poultry farming conditions in Thai Binh province. The findings of this study indicated that the avian influenza (A/H5N1, A/H5N6) outbreaks in period 2010-2015 were single case, scatter focusing mainly on the months: 3, 5, 6, 9 annually with the infection rate was 2.48%. Of which, the infection rate of duck, chicken, Muscovy duck was 69.68%; 25.96 % and 4.36% respectively. In 2014-2015. Through testing 1020 swab samples from the poultry flocks, prevalence of the A/H5N6 virus accounted for 0.88%.Efficacy of Navet-Vifluvac vaccine in prevention of HPAI was determined to be good. The number of samples presenting antibody reached 119/130, accounting for 91.54%. Of which, the duck samples reached 49/50, accounting for 98%; the chicken samples reached 70/80, accounting for 87.50%. The number of samples reaching antibody titer were 116/130, accounting for 89.23%. Of which, the duck samples reached 47/50, accounting for 94%; the chicken samples reached 69/80, accounting for 86.25%.These study findings were basic for completing a HPAI prevention procedure in Thai Binh province.
