Study on some haematological indices in rachitis-affected dog

Abstract

The objective of this studied subject was to identify the clinical symptoms and changes in the haematological indices of the rachitis-affected dogs. This study was conducted on 12 rachitis-affected Berger dogs at the Veterinary Hospital, Viet Nam National University of Agriculture.The studied result showed that rachitis-affected dogs often had symptoms, such as: loss of appetite (33.33%), eating junk food (50%), bone pain and tenderness in their legs (100%), bow of the legs (66.66%). Some haematological indexes of the rachitis-affected dogs, such as numberof red blood cells and white blood cells, hematocrit (HCT), mean corpuscular volume (MCV) as well as the levels of serum Ca, serum P, serum Vit. D were all decreased in comparison to those of the healthy dogs. The results of this study provide primary information on the haematologicalcharacteristics of the rachitis-affected dogs in Viet Nam.
