Some epidemiological characteristics of rabbit coccidiosis in Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province and drug treatment
Abstract
Rabbit coccidiosis is an intestinal parasitic disease by Eimeria spp, causing heavy economic loss inrabbit production. This study aimed at identifying some epidemiological characteristics of rabbit coccidiosis in Viet Yen district, Bac Giang province and the medicines used in treatment of rabbite coccidiosis.
The fecal samples were collected by rabbit age groups, raising seasons, hygiene condition and fecal
status for identifying the infection rate and intensity by Fulleborn method. The analysed results showed
that, out of 575 samples, there were 459 positive samples (79.83%). The highest infection rate and
intensity were in Quang Minh commune (87.76%) and the lowest infection rate and intensity were in
Bich Son commune (67.65). By age group, the lowest infection rate was from newborn to 4 weeks old
(59.65%) and the highest infection rate was in 8 to 12 weeks old (89.82%). The highest infection rate was
in summer (90.56%) and the lowest infection rate was in winter (65.91%). On the other hand, in the good
hygiene raising condition, the infection rate was 57.80%, whereas in the bad sanitary condition, the infection rate was very high (97.71%). For the fecal status, the infection rate in the normal and watery feces
was 76.00 and 89.66%, respectively. The Viacoc and RTD-coccistop medicines have given very good
treatment efficacy for rabbit coccidiosis that was the infection rate of rabbit reduced significantly with the
light infection intensity. Thus, the infection rate and intensity of rabbit coccidiosis in Viet Yen district, Bac
Giang provicne were medium in comparison with other publications
