Study on Parvovirus disease in dogs in the Regional Animal Health Office No 3, Nghe An
Abstract
The study was conducted from January 2018 to August 2019 in order to assess the situation of diseases in dogs that examined and treated at the clinic of Regional Animal Health Office No 3. At the same time, the situation of disease caused by Parvovirus (CPV - 2) in the domestic dogs in Vinh city and the surrounding areas was also determined. The studied results showed that there were 106 dogs positive with CPV - 2, accounting for 25.73%. The dogs in Vinh city were infected with relatively high rate (32.41%) while the dogs at surrounding areas were infected with lower rate (18.37%). The indigenous and exotic dog breeds were infected with the rates of 28.00% and 25.41%, respectively. There was no difference in incidence among different dog breeds (P > 0.05). The dogs group from 1 to 3 months old was infected with the highest rate (30.88%), followed by the dog group at over 3 months to 6 months old (24.78%), the dogs group at over 6 months old was infected with lower rate (14.28%). The infection rate of the vaccinated dogs was 8.49%, lower than that of the un-vaccinated dogs (17.23%). The male or female dogs were not affected to the disease caused by CPV - 2. There were 96 dogs out of 106 dogs were recovery from treatment, accounting for 90.57%.
