Role of E. coli in diarrhea of piglet under 2 months of age in Son La province and treatment measure

Abstract

- Most of the isolated E. coli strains carried genes synthesizing four types of adhesive element (F4, F5, F6, F18) and produced 4 toxins (STa, STb, LT and VT2e). There were 21/22 isolated E. coli strains contained adhesive elements accounting for 95.5%. The numbers of strains containing F4, F18, F6, F5 elements were 45.5%, 31.8%, 22.7%, 13.6% respectively; The percentage of strains carrying Sta, LT, STb toxins was 45.5%, 40.9% and 36.4% respectively.- Among 22 isolated E. coli strains, there were 8 strains killed the experimental mice within 36 hours (36.4%), and 14 strains killed the experimental mice within 48 hours (63.6%).- The isolated E. coli strains were susceptible with 4 antibiotics, such as: amikacin,spectinomycin, gentamycin and amoxicillin and resistant to lincomycin, ampicillin, tetracycline, erythromycin, etc.- Experimental treatment measures for diarrhea in piglet causing by E-coli obtained good result, which were:+ Marphamox-LA + Electrolyte - Gluco - C+ BM-GentaTylosin + Electrolyte - Gluco - C
