Some clinical signs, physiological parameters and pathological characteristics of Berger dog infected with Canine distemper
Abstract
This study was conducted to determine some clinical signs, physiological parameters and pathological characteristics of the Berger dogs infected with Canine distemper in Ha Noi city area. The main clinical symptoms of the infected dogs were loss of appetite, fatigue, fever, green liquid discharging from nose, conjunctivitis, respiratory disorders, cough, pneumonia, bloody diarrhea, vomiting and thickening of the foot soles. The clinical parameters, such as body temperature, respiratory, heartbeat frequency of the infected dogs were higher than that of the healthy dogs. The number of red blood cells, hematocrit, mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration of the infected dogs were lower than that of the healthy dogs. The number of white blood cells of the infected dogs was also lower than that of the healthy dogs. Particularly, the rate of neutrophils in blood of the infected dogs was higher than that of the healthy dogs. The gross lesions of the infected dogs were hemorrhage in lung, intestines and in lymph nodes; cardiac and chest cavity containing water; atrophy of lymph node follicles; swelling of liver, gallbladder and kidneys.
