Abstract

The study was carried out on 428 fecal samples collecting in 4 different age groups of
rabbits raising in Vinh Long province and Can Tho city to determine the coccidiosis situation in
the rabbit farms, in addition, using 2 medicines, such as toltrazuril and amprolium for treatment
of coccidicosis with 4 experiments was conducted on 40 rabbits suffering with coccidicosis at
high infection intensity. The study was conducted from July, 2020 to April, 2021. The studied
result showed that the common infection rate of rabbits was 79.21%. The infection rate of rabbits
raising in Can Tho city was 81.55%, higher than that of the rabbits raising in Vinh Long province
(77.69%). The rabbits at all age groups were infected with oocysts. Of which, rabbit coccidiosis
with the high infection rate and intensity mainly occurred in the rabbit age groups from 30-60 days
old (100%) and 61-90 days old (91.85%), the infection rate and intensity decreased gradually with
the rabbit age groups > 90 days old (66.18%) and the lowest rate was in the reproductive rabbit
group (52.59%). There were six species of Eimeria found in the rabbit farms in Can Tho city and
Vinh Long provice; E. media, E. stiedae, E. magna, E. exigua, E. flavescens and E. vejdovskyi.
Using toltrazuril and amprolium for treating coccidiosis in rabbits with a dose of 1.4ml of toltrazuril
per 2.5 kg rabbit body weight, (trial II) or 1ml of amprolium per 25 kg rabbit body weight, (trial
III) or 1.4 ml of amprolium per 2.5 kg rabbit body weight, (trial IV) for one day only gave the high
treatment efficacy, this treatment regimen can be widely applied in the rabbit farms
