Abstract
Once there was a change in the training method at the university from year-based training to credit-based training, academic advisors appeared to perform the function of advising and supporting students in their learning activities, scientific research and participation in community activities inside and outside the university. An academic advisor is considered a "link" in the circle of the relationship between the school - students - labor market; is the focal point to ensure the coordination between the initiative of students and the advice and orientation of lecturers during the learning process at the university.Based on the development of concepts and analysis of the scientific basis of the research issue, the paper proposes a competency framework for academic advisors to meet the credit training method at university which includes 06 standards with 32 specific criteria/indicators. This competency framework will be the theoretical basis for us to conduct further studies on training and management of competency development for academic advisors to meet the current credit training method at university in our country.
