Abstract

The article clarifies the origin and historical-cultural role of the Yasukuni shrine from the Meiji era, analyzing and discovering its multidimensional impacts on political and diplomatic relations between Japan and China through generations of leaders of the two countries. Issues related to the Yasukuni shrine visits by the Japanese prime ministers are also objectively evaluated, through which several practical issues between the two countries and the situation in Northeast Asia are examined.
