Abstract

Brazil has the largest economy in Latin America. Vietnam and Brazil first established diplomatic relations in 1989. Vietnam - Brazil trade cooperation in the early stages was not really significant, but has continuously been promoted since the early 2000s and gained remarkable progress in recent years. However, there remains much room to improve which also includes many opportunities, especially when the negotiation of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the South American Common Market (MERCOSURE) is achieved. The paper analyzes the situation of trade cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil in recent years, indicates development opportunities, clarifies some raised issues, and then makes some proposals to promote trade cooperation between the two countries in the near future.
