Reseach autonomy: Lessons from high-profile universities in the world

Abstract

The author is of Vietnamese ancestry, a professor of the Taiwan University, a member of the World Philosophy Association, and an emeritus scholar with many universities in the world.
The writing focuses on the importance of tertiary education necessity of research autonomy. As for the author, the might belongs to those who are intelligible creative, able to control the outside, organization-minded, and able to do business. So as to own such competencies, there must be good universities or research institutions taking the lead in all fields, where foresee things that are out of mind of others, discover the latest, the best... to satisfy all the needs of human beings. The author also presents lessons drawn from such famous universities in the world for their science research as the University of Berlin (Germany), Harvard University (the US), the University of Tokyo (Japan), Seoul University (Korea)... He finally gives some suggestions to the State of Vietnam on tertiary educationtraining and research autonomy of universities.
