Teaching and learning foreign languages in Vietnam today: the current situation and some solutions

Abstract

It has become more ever important to be literal and use

with high proficiency of a foreign language (in particular

English) since Vietnams introduction of a foreign policy of

multi-lateralization and diversification, especially its

admission to the World Trade Organization. It is a linking

bridge for Vietnams rapid integration into the region and

the world. However, instabilities have seemingly appeared

in foreign languages learning in Vietnam. It is not simply

limited to the training aspect, but also a multi-faceted

problem: social-economic, educational-scientific...

This writing indicated concerns relating to foreign

languages teaching and learning at the present time in

Vietnam, from teaching and learning programmes at the

primary to tertiary levels; and put out some suggestions

and solutions in order for more positively effective

teaching and learning of foreign languages
