Abstract

Community-based tourism (CBT) linked with indigenous knowledge represents a promising direction for ethnic minority and mountainous regions. Muong Long, a highland border commune in Nghe An province, is home to a concentrated community of Hmong people who possess a rich body of indigenous knowledge in agriculture, cuisine, folk songs and dances, traditional crafts, folk games, and rituals. However, CBT activities in the area remain largely spontaneous, small-scale, and have yet to develop into a complete value chain. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the community-based tourism value chain in Muong Long commune on the basis of utilizing and promotingthe Hmong people’s indigenous knowledge, thereby proposingsolutions for developing a sustainable community-based tourism chain.
